Now please welcome the Air and Space Forces Association Chair of the Board, Brigadier General Bernie Skoch to introduce our first keynote of the day, the State of the Space Force.
Brigadier General Bernie Skoch:
Thank you. Good morning, Guardians. Good morning Airmen. It’s an honor to introduce our first keynote today. He’s the leader of the world’s only military service dedicated solely to space. Just shy of its fifth birthday, the US Space Force is being purpose-built for great power competition. The space race that started in the 1950s has evolved into an immensely more complex and contested domain. The Space Force was established to meet those challenges and though it’s accomplished much since 2019, there’s still more work to be done before the service is optimized for the great power competition.
General Saltzman is leading that charge, reshaping the Space Force’s organization, operations, personnel, and equipment. Please welcome to the stage the Second Chief of Space Operations, a brilliant leader and a great friend of AFA, General Chance Saltzman.
General Chance Saltzman:
Good morning. Awesome, day two. It’s such a pleasure to be back here with all of you. It is a little bit like a family reunion, the kind of family reunion where you invite 19,000 of your closest family and friends back together to talk about old times…
