Few things capture the public imagination like the sleek lines of supersonic aircraft.
The Concorde did the trick back in the day, managing to achieve a truly iconic status.
Fast forward a few decades and Boom Supersonic, a startup that aims to bring back commercial supersonic flight, also wants its aircraft to be a head-turner.
As if the uniqueness of its design was not enough, Boom Supersonic is looking for ideas to emblazon its aircraft with original, eye-catching liveries.
So, the aerospace company has launched an open contest asking for the public to send proposals under four different category designs.
“Top Speed”, highlighting the Mach 1.7 speeds that Boom’s Overture aircraft will be able to reach, “Retro look”, which evokes the so-called “Golden Age of Flying” of the 1950s, 60s and 70s, “Runway Ready”, focusing on elegance, and a catch-all category called “Most Original”.
Boom will select one winner for each category, who will receive a 1:125 scale model of the Overture aircraft and a fully rendered image. The final use of these liveries has not yet been made clear.
The firm made a blank template available for download or to be printed. The desired colors and designs can be applied whether digitally or by hand.
